Although the iPhone SE 3 was launched in early 2022 by Apple, rumors suggest that a larger version (larger than 4.7 inches), is still on its way. It’s being called iPhone SE Plus. Although there are no solid leaks yet, we can make educated guesses about the features, specifications, and release date.
When will the iPhone SE Plus be released?
Some expect it to arrive in 2022. However, it is not yet clear when or if it will actually show.
YouTuber Jon Prosser first mentioned an iPhone SE for plus-sized people in 2020. then changed its release date to 2021. It’s not likely, but it is important to note that Prosser regularly makes early predictions that prove true later.
Analyst MingChi Kuo predicted in 2021, that Apple would launch a phone bearing the SE Plus moniker that same year with a display as the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro.
Ross Young, a display analyst, used the name “iPhone SE Plus”, in late 2021 for an iPhone 2022. He also predicted that the SE 3 would be released in 2024. However, it was actually released in March 2022.
It’s possible that the screen size of the “SE Plus”, he suggested, was actually the regular iPhone SE. This could indicate that the larger SE Plus will arrive in 2024.
Take this as an example: The first two SEs were created four years apart. If this pattern continues, there would be another in 2024. It is possible that the 2022 iPhone SE was an in-between release. If so, the 4-year cycle would still be in place, which would put the Plus model in 2024.
Lifewire Release Date Estimate
Young’s comments will be used to predict that the SE Plus will arrive in 2024, since the SE 3 has already arrived. Some rumors claimed that the September 2022 Apple Event would be held, but it never happened.
iPhone SE Plus Price Rumors
Price information is still unknown. It’s not usually useful to make estimates so early and with little detail. We can still look at the 2022 SE to get an estimate.
The phone was launched at $30 less than the 2nd-gen SE. It cost $429 for 64 GB, $479 for 128GB and $579 for the 256GB.
Upgraded devices are more expensive, which makes sense, but 2024 is a long time away so the price of a new device could rise or fall as high as $50. This does not include the possibility of storage upgrades, which typically carry a higher price.
We’ll price the cheapest model at $500, 128 GB, and then the largest at $600, 512 GB. This is due to upgraded hardware and natural price fluctuations over the years.

iPhone SE Plus Specifications, Hardware & Features
Young’s sources in late 2021 are correct about the screen size estimate. The SE Plus could have a display size of 5.7 to 6.1 inches. This is a reference size that could be used to compare the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro.
We’ve also heard that Touch ID is integrated into the power button. Although the Face ID has been removed from recent iPhones, Touch ID was present in all previous SE versions of iPhone SE including the 2022 iPhone SE. So it shouldn’t surprise that it will be back on this phone.
It will launch iOS 16 if it arrives by late 2022. If it arrives in late 2022, it will launch iOS 16.
