This article will show you how to play Minecraft with your Oculus Quest and Quest 2 virtual reality headsets. Instructions are provided for both Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft.
Can you play Minecraft on Meta (Oculus), Quest or Quest 2
Quest and Quest 2 don’t have the native Minecraft Bedrock edition. However, there is a native Minecraft Bedrock Edition for the Rift VR headset. This platform allows you to still play Minecraft, provided that you have a VR ready PC and a cable. Your computer runs Minecraft and sends visual data directly to the headset. This allows you to play Minecraft in VR so long as your PC is connected to it.
You can play different versions of Minecraft on your Quest. However, the process is a little different. You will need to buy one of the versions if you don’t have the other.
These are the Minecraft versions you can play on Quest.
- Windows 10 edition: This version of Minecraft can be purchased from the Microsoft Store. This version has VR capabilities and can be set up quickly. However, mod is not possible for this version.
- Java Edition: This version is the original Minecraft and has many free mods online. Although it is more difficult to make this version work in VR, you will need to install Java and Steam VR. However, the implementation is much more fun. You can, for example, mine bricks physically by swinging your controllers.
