The first three steps will resolve the problem immediately. The last step is designed to stop Snapchat from ever crashing again. The last method is recommended if all three options fail to resolve the problem. Before you follow the procedures below, make sure your internet connection is stable.

Fix 1: Force Snapchat to Quit and Re-Open It

An app can crash or cease to function if it is corrupted in data. The app’s performance can be affected if a data segment, such as the cache, in its memory becomes corrupted. The corrupted data can be cleared by closing the app and opening it again. This will fix any issues like random crashes.

The first step to fixing the crash is force-quitting your iPhone and launching Snapchat. Follow these steps to force quit Snapchat and relaunch Snapchat for iPhone:

  1. In quick succession, press the Home button two times. iPhone 11/12 and 13: swipe up from the bottom and pause in middle.
  2. A preview screen for the app will be displayed. Select the Snapchat preview screen and tap to clear it.
  3. To ensure that they don’t conflict with Snapchat, do the same thing for other apps.
  4. After all apps have been force closed, you can open Snapchat. Is it still crashing? If so, you can move on to the next step. You’ve probably solved the problem.

Fix 2: Update your Snapchat App

Snapchat may be crashing on your iPhone if it isn’t the latest version. Verify that you are using the most recent version of Snapchat. Follow these steps to update an older version of Snapchat.

These steps are for IOS 13 users and older.

  1. The AppStore app is now open. Verify that you have successfully logged in to the App store using your Apple ID password
  2. Click on the Profile icon located on the right-upper corner
  3. Scroll down and locate the Snapchat icon in the Update section.
  4. Before you launch the app, click on the update button.
  5. Click the open button to launch Snapchat directly from the App store.

IOS 12 and older users follow the following steps.

  1. From the iPhone’s Home screen, access the iOS App Store. You can quickly find the App Store app using the spotlight search feature.
  2. The Updatetab appears in the lower right corner of the screen.
  3. The App List contains the Snapchat application.
  4. Next, click the Update tab next to Snapchat. Wait for the update to complete. You’ll then see an Open tab. Click the Open button to launch Snapchat from the iOS App Store.

Fix 3: Delete Snapchat, and Reinstall It

You can also delete Snapchat and then reinstall the app to fix the Snapchat crash issue. The app crashes randomly when it clears cache and other data. Uninstalling an app on iOS is the only way to clear the cache and temporary files in the app’s memory.

The problem of Snapchat crashing is easily fixed by deleting Snapchat and installing the latest version from Apple’s App store. Follow these steps to delete Snapchat from your iPhone.

These steps will be followed if you are using IOS 12 or older versions to delete Snap app from your phone.

  1. Tap and hold the Snapchat App icon on your home screen until it starts to jiggle.
  2. Next, tap on the X mark badge which appears under the Snapchat app icon. To confirm the app deletion, a popup will be displayed.
  3. To confirm, tap Delete

You can delete Snapchat if you are using iOS 13 or later. Follow the steps below.

  1. Find Snapchat on the Home screen
  2. Hold down the Snapchat app icon and tap until you see a popup that allows to delete, share, edit your home screen, chat with friends, and edit your profile. Tap the Delete app tab.
  3. Popup appears with the title Delete Snapchat. To delete the app, tap on the Delete tab.

Next, you will need to reinstall Snapchat after you have deleted it. The process of reinstalling Snapchat is the same for all iOS versions.

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. To find Snapchat, use the search bar function.
  3. Click here to download the Snapchat app
  4. Tap the down arrow icon to download the app and wait for it to complete. The Get button will not appear because you aren’t downloading the app from the beginning. Instead, you’re re-installing it.

Open the Snapchat App after reinstallation and enter your Snapchat username and password. If the problem persists, you can try the next solution.

Fix 4: Verify that your iPhone software is up-to-date

If Snapchat crashes on your iPhone despite you trying all the steps above, it may be because of outdated software. Check that your iPhone runs the most recent iOS version.

Verify that your iPhone is current.

  1. Tap Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Make sure your iPhone is connected with a stable WiFi network. Then, tap Software update.
  4. iOS 15 is the current public Over The-Air (OTA), firmware. It is easy to download and install over WiFi.
